how small to dice bananas?

Ds is in 3rd stage foods. He is already mashing food with his mouth. I thought I would say that first off and that he is 3 days shy of 8 months. I would love to start him on finger foods and it's been suggested to give bananas. How small do you dice them for the first time? I have an idea but I just want to be extra careful kwim?
