should transgendered people be able to legally change there name and sex at dmv?

saw a story on the news and the dmv worker refused to change the name and sex on the liscense

    Do you have a link for this? There's already a story posted here, but the asshole didn't refuse to change the woman's info on her license - he did that. He just wrote down her personal info and sent religious tracts saying she was going to Hell after he did it (and should've been fired long before this for doing the same thing to other people, but for some reason the idiots let him keep his job)

    As for which parts are removed - you don't have to have the penis removed to be transgender. It's a very expensive and very dangerous procedure - just like not all FtoM have their ovaries and uterus removed.

  • I'm not surprised..Not a big fan of the DMV. However, why shouldn't they be allowed to change their name and sex? Seems only logical to me...

  • If they have completely gone through the whole process of sex change, absolutely..But if I'm not mistaken don't you have to go to court to leagally change your name? If this person did this then DMV can't refuse this.

  • she had not had the penis removed but appeared as a woman. so she technically was still a man

    you need to go through the proper LEGAL ways to change your name. once that is done, go back to the DMV
