Just wondering..

Since conception happens however many days after sex.. if you are on the pill when you have sex but don't take it the day after is it possible to get pregnant? The everyday pill if that makes a difference.

  • most pills today are what is called 'mini pills', which are very low hormone pills. Even not taking the pill at the same time every day can cause breakthrough bleeding and can cause an egg to be released which can lead to conception.

  • I have 2 grandchildren who were concieved on the pill. Their Mother was too ignornat to follow the directions 3 Dr's and myself told her. Take it about the same time each day. Even skipping one day is a big risk. Any time you skip you should double. You should also use an alternative form of BC as well for the rest of that cycle.

  • it is possible but the chances are very slim. missing one day probably won't get you pregnant and just try and take it as soon as you remember that day but if you missed the whole day take it at the same time you have been every other day. ive heard of doubling up on pills after the missed day but i usually just discarded the missed pill and continued the same regimen i had before.
