what do you do for a toddler with the stomach flu?

I know when I have it I like to sip 7-up/ginger ale/coke
He's with his Grandma right now because I just got home from work so he'll be home soon.
She said he seems to be doing okay NOW but when he woke up he was not himself.
he threw up around midnight twice, and I guess once this morning after I left for work.

he loves ice so I'm going to give him chipped ice if he seems to still not feel well but

what are your remedies

  • Pedialyte, and have you heard of the BRAT diet? It stands for: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. All very good for little ones with upset tummies. Plus, most kids will eat what they are. Hope he feels better soon, poor little guy.

LOL thats funny! but yes the BRAT diet is recommended for any type of stomach illness even cold illnesses sometimes. this particular diet is easy on the stomach and will keep him full too. i agree with pedialyte as well, pedialyte pops if he doesnt like the drink.

  • Pedialyte for sue. Also just bland food the rest of the day (we do Saltines, cherrios, toast, bananas etc). I also cut out dairy for 24hrs. Stomach flus are no fun....my three all had it at some point this week. Hope your little guy feels better soon! At least it happened now instead of Christmas!

  • pedialite. or gatorade. if he likes the chipped ice , then freeze it on a large cookie sheet lined with plastic wrap and break into pecies. Really anything like that just needs to work itself. All you can do is make sure to keep him hydrated. To much sugar can make it worse, so I usually shy away from soda.

  • salt free saltines, whatever they want to drink, some ice pops and lots of movies. Last time my daughter was really sick I dug out our portable DVD player and she watched finding nemo on the toilet 2 or 3 times non stop.
