Help on a gift (asked in another section)

Note: I normally don't ask the same question twice in the Answers forum, but this time I'm in a time crunch and need ideas!

I'm finishing up a handmade cookbook for my niece. It's filled with recipes from family and friends. On the front page I want something special -- I just don't know what. This is (hopefully) a keepsake book that she can add photos to as well as more recipes. Can you ladies suggest a poem, or something for the first page? Thanks.

  • A Recipe for a Day
    Take a little dash of water cold, and a little leaven of prayer,
    And a little bit of morning gold dissolved in morning air,
    Add to your meal some merriment, and a thought of kith and kin;
    And then, as your prime ingredients a plenty of work thrown in,
    But spice it all with the essence of love, and a little whiff of play,
    Let a wise old book and a look above complete the well made day.

  • not sure about a poem but find some cute craftbook stickers and maybe make it so that if she wanted to add a pic to the front or something this can still be done..ie leaving enough room or flanking the size of what a normal 4x6 pic would be with the stickers.

  • We may live without poetry, music and art;
    We may live without conscience and live without heart;
    We may live without friends; we may live without books;
    But civilized man can not live without cooks.
    He may live without books,-what is knowledge but grieving?
    He may live without hope-what is hope but deceiving?
    He may live without love,-what is passion but pining?
    But where is the man that can live without dining?
