How many weeks are you planning on taking off for maternity leave!

I'd love to take 12, or just quit my job, but I dont have the money for that!

  • i know what you mean! i would LOVE to take a month before giving birth and a couple after the baby is born, cant imagine leaving it at all, but my job only allows 8 weeks unpaid if i want them to guarantee i have a job to go back to-so unless there are major complications that is what i will have to do since i am doing this parenting thing on my own

  • In Canada you get a year off and get money from the government (employment insurance). I wouldn't think of taking anything less than a year...but I know that's not usually possible if you don't have a government program to help support you.

  • The US government says that a person can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid medical leave to take care of oneself, a newborn, or an ill family member. I plan on taking all 12 weeks.
