Why don't we put a little money aside each month so we can buy x-mas gifts for our kids?

I mean come on. $5-$10 a month adds up very quickly. I have a hard time believing NO ONE can afford to put aside a little money each month so they can buy Christmas gifts.

  • We put about $40-$50 aside each month for Christmas. We do that for just about everything we need that costs a lot. We don't put things on credit card and we no longer finance anything (except our house which we're working on).

  • Whenever I put $$ away for anything my car breaks down, big medical bill, window breaks in the house, heater went out.....shall I continue? lol

  • Yeah, I agree with JeremysMom. Where are you getting this "NO ONE"? Some people don't even need to put money away for gifts, they just have the money.

  • While everyone might not be able to do this, I think it's a great idea for those who know they will not be able to afford large amounts at Christmas. It seems like there would be a lot less people who are sad because they can't give their kids anything if they would either save a little all year, or just buy small things throughout the year.

  • Thats how we buy our presents for the kids, otherwise we wouldn't be able to afford to get them anything.

  • Some people are struggling to put food on the table. If it cam down to $5 for Christmas or food, I'd hope they'd choose food. We do put aside money, but not everyone can.

  • i think people who say they have nothing to get them with probably thought about putting the money away, but ended up having to use it. to some, its very hard to save for future things when you come upon needing it now.

    ? maybe? lol

  • No one? I believe you are over generalizing here.

You're right. I didn't mean to generalized, and I apologize.
