Babies weight

My dd will be 3 months on the 24th but I don't think she is gaining weight very fast. She was 3 weeks early and was 9lbs even (they thought I had gd but I didn't but her blood sugar was way off). Now she seems healthy and is EBF but she's not getting big like the other babies in my mom group. Is it normal to slow down if they were big when they were born? At the 1st of the month she was 11 lbs 13 oz. When I put her on the scale at home she's now 12 lbs 3 oz. I will bring this up to her pedi but just wanted some input.

  • Babies grow at different rates. Just like adults vary in size, so do babies. it's not a race to hit 20 pound or anything.

If your baby has 6+ diaper changes per day then you are fine.

  • Sounds great. My daughter weighed 9lbs 4 oz and did not gain weight as fast as other little ones. Totally normal.

  • Talk to your ped...that isn't a huge weight gain but all babies are different. At her 2mos check up what did the ped say?

  • I agree, talk to your pediatrician, but they do grow at different weights.

  • If she is gaining an average of at least a pound a month, has at least 6 diaper changes in a 24 hour period and is meeting milestones, everything is perfect.

  • At her 2 month he said she was fine, tall and all cheeks. He's a really nice pedi but pointed out how different my kids are. Such as my ds is solid he's 4 in 2 weeks and is 42 inches and 53 lbs.

  • If you're really worried, talk to your pediatrician again. If he's not worried, you shouldn't be either.

  • All of my babies were born at average/above average weight and then slowed down (birth weight between 7 lbs 7 oz, weight at one year between 15-19 lbs). They gained, but it was slow progress. They are all healthy and happy.
