If you had only ever had one partner, and you were his only partner, would you still get pap smears?

Since pap smears test for precancerous cervical cells, and such cervical cancer can only be caused by herpes, and herpes can only be passed sexually....

  • First off, it's not caused by herpes, but a particular strand of HPV. And there are rare cases of young women having cervical cancer/hpv even when they have had no sexual partners.

  • Cervical cancer is not caused by herpes, it's caused by the Human Papilloma virus. And yes, I would get one every year because I'm sure there are other things that can cause cervical cancer other than just HPV.

  • If you can do the test that it can't harm you. I do every possible test because even you are faithful and maybe your partner as well, you never know when do you get something somewhere. And I don't mean being unfaithful or so. It is just a matter of fact being sure you are healthy.

  • Herpes can not only be passed sexually. Pap Smears are not only for precancerous cells. And if he and I were one another's first I would still get tested to make sure that there wasn't anything I was unaware of. Regardless if it was for his or just my protection.
