How worried should I be about my almost 18 yr old and her having dizzy spells

twice in the last 5 days she has gotten dizzy, hot and sweaty....I have her eat an orange and 16 oz. bottle of water and she feels better.
should I be concerned that this is a diabetic thing or maybe it is anemia.

  • my husband joked with her about that this morning and she said it wasn't possible..... but she does have a yearly pap exam coming up on Thursday so we see about that but I'm thinking more about having her iron levels/blood sugar levels checked before Thursday

  • Is she eating correctly? I would make sure she is getting plenty of protein.

  • I'd get some blood tests, but keep in mind just because blood sugar levels show up ok, it doesn't mean there is no problem.
mine came up ok, but for years I knew there was a issue. then a few years back, they did a test where I fasted for 4 hours, they took a vial of blood every hour.
turned out my blood sugar went up and down like a roller coaster.

    rare, but it does happen.

  • I would go see the Doctor just in case, but i have had unexplained dizzy spells for the past 3 years. I eventually had an MRI done and everything is fine. My Neurologist did tell me to take Magnesium supplements, and I have been having less dizzy spells. Also make sure DD is drinking enough water, that can also bring on spells for me.

  • Sounds like she may be hypoglycemic.
