diaper changes

Just curious, about how long do you wait before changing a toddlers diaper. Of course, this is if they haven't pooped or if they aren't really squishy. I tend to stay at around 3 hr intervals with my soon to be 2 year old.

  • I've been using cloth lately which needs to be changed more often, but when I was using disposables I went through about 4 to 5 a day. It never seemed to bother them, they never got rashes, and the diapers weren't leaking. To change every time they pee seems kind of wasteful to me. People say disposable diapered babies take longer to potty train because they can't feel when they are wet, so why worry about changing them right away when they are wet if they can't feel it?

  • My son is potty trained (hes 2) but I always changed him as soon as he was wet. I wouldn't want to sit in pee for hours.

  • I change my son as soon as he pees or poops.

  • Every two hours or so. MY daughter is 18 months.

  • I certainly don't want my child to sit in pee for hours either, but I can't possibly afford to change him EVERY time he pees either. Misteh's answer, however, does make me think about him "sitting in pee." I think I'll change him more often!
