  • I think private insurance and socialized medicines each have their good and negative points.

  • Because your medicine is great, for people that can afford it. For people who can't, they die. Diabetics, asthmatics, people with allergies have all died purely because they cannot afford their medication.
Your system is working so well isn't it?

  • Key word being who can afford it. Our system is great for those with the money to afford it. No one system is perfect. Socialized medicine isn't either. As Piskie said, we have people dying or taking a huge risk to their health simply because they can't afford to control medical conditions that could otherwise be easily controlled with the right medications. I see it everyday in my job people who don't take their blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes medications, or put off needed testing because of cost.

  • Other ways to bring prices down than handing the govy control..hello..it doesn't HAVE to be.Besides that testing and wonderful meds you speak of would go bye bye when everyone has 'free' health care the standard of care will go DOWN.

  • If our healthcare system is so great, why are there hardworking people (like my parents, at one point in their lives!) who aren't getting the health care they need b/c they can't afford it, or can't afford insurance, or their insurance doesn't cover something their doctor says they need?

news flash this happens in a socialized system too...they cant afford it? Too bad now they will be forced to purchase insurance or be fined and possibly jailed...
