Is there a trick to getting new bath towels to dry you and not cover you in fuzz?

My husband and I got these beautiful towels over 2 years ago for a wedding gift and they're STILL sitting in the closet, not being used. I washed them 3 or 4 times before we first tried using them, but they wouldn't work to dry you off. It would just smear the water, and you would end up being covered in fuzz from the towels. Is there any kind of solution for this?

  • Wash with a cup of bleach in the water. It breaks down the film that they put on it to keep them from wrinkling in transit from warehouse to store

  • Haha! I was going to Really? But they're black and grey! They'll look HORRIBLE if I wash with bleach. :) Vinegar makes more sense. I'll try it tonight, THANK YOU!

  • Use vinegar to wash, and dry them on high heat without any dryer sheets.
