has anyone ever made a regular coat closet into a pantry?

I rent my home but the shelf in my coat closet that is right next to the kitchen is removalable and i so need more space for the food. its on all these shelves and in this one cabinet but i just don't want to see it. i want to have a nice pantry closet. anyone have any luck in doing this. thanks

  • cool. can you give me any tips? what did you get for the food items to be on. did you add shelves? i can't really add shelves but maybe a removable cabinet and then at shelves on top of it.

  • We changed our coat closet into a linen closet. My husband put some boards up on the wall and then set some boards on those for the shelving. It was pretty simple and didn't take long at all.

  • I did what you are asking. I put a small dresser/ chest of drawers into the closet and put food in the drawers, and snacks on top. I also added 2 more shelves on top, and hung up the mops/brooms along one wall.

  • See if your landlord can install a set of rubbermaid shelving - the white wire shelving.
    We turned our coat closet into a game closet.
