Please someone help ...

My son has recently been diagnosed with a tarsal coalition on both his feet. That means that a bone grew out a little more than it should have. According to his podiatrist he will have to have surgery so that they can shorten that specific bone in each foot. I would like to get a second opinion. The thing is this: should I make an appointment with another podiatrist or with an orthopedic surgeon?

I know this might sound like such a trivial problem but it is really troubling me. We will have to travel more than 200 miles and I don't want to waste my time or money.

  • What are the symptoms of it? Is it causing him daily pain?

If so I would go on that doctor's opinion and go with the operation, it's better than any more pain.

  • Yes he does have alot of pain. But my husband is insisting that surgery should be our last resort. I just don't want him hurting anymore.

  • If he is in pain as a mother I would go with the doctor and let him have surgery. I wouldnt want him in pain either.
