  • Wow I never knew that, I don't really care for it anyway, so I didn't have it when I was pregnant. I guess if you're really concerned you could call your doctor.

  • your kidding right? lots of stuff has food coloring in it!

Answer by Anonymous at 12:12 AM on Dec. 22, 2010

  • just about everything you eat has food coloring in it, check some of your food's lake #40, yellow lake #12, so on and so forth. you better not eat m&m's, skittles, almost any prepackaged food, some soups, some gravies...the list goes on and on

  • I wouldn't live on it, but here and there it won't do any harm. It's best to avoid foods with additives in general, but the occasional indulgence is necessary! I eat clean (homemade foods without using many processed products, low saturated and trans fats, lots of whole grains, lean proteins and veggies, etc), but I still have an occasional slice of pie or cake or scoop of ice cream. Including foods with dyes in them. A little bit of dye won't hurt your baby. Just don't live on the stuff, ya know? =)

  • are you allergic to red food coloring?

If not, it's fine. I'd worry more about all the sugar.

  • Whoever said that is nuts.

  • We avoid food coloring here when possible, our candy canes are colored with beet juice, lol.
But if someone wants to give us some cake, we eat that!

So they are right in that it's healthier to avoid it.

    How far along are you?
    Are you reading & preparing?
There are lot of options and alternatives, you can learn as you get ready.

  • I don't think it should be all *that* crazy to understand. Not nuts.
Some folks might not have heard of this before~ use this opportunity to become better informed.

Chemicals are not always healthy for humans.
Red dye is associated with some scary things that you might want to know about.

I know a lot of people avoid red very seriously because it's so unhealthy.
