Does this sound like a healthy calorie intake?

Does this sound healthy to you? I am planning on consuming 1600 calories a day and doing low impact cardio 30 mins daily. I am gonna try to eat more healthy fats like olive oil, avocados, almonds, and tuna fish. The question with that, what is the percentage of fat are you suppose to eat.

  • I'm not sure about the fat percentage is. However depending on how much weight you want to loose and how fast that might be too high of a caloric intake. If you go to the website sparkpeople dot com and register there it will setup a whole plan for you. It even figures in the fat carb and all that stuff and the best part? It's FREE! lol woohoo. It's just like cafemom but for diet and healthy living.

  • Losing weight isn't about the percentage of calories from fat. It's about the calorie intake vs. calories spent by activity. You need fat in your diet to maintain proper functions but the most often quoted numbers are around 25 and 35%. 1600 calories per day sounds about right for low to moderate activity to lose weight. I don't recommend using the USDA food pyramid as a guide for diet or nutrition.

  • When you create a profile you can put in how active you are and it tells you how many calories you should consume on a daily basis then you can log what you eat and what exersise you do and it calculates how well you are doing! it is awesome!
