  • Pop it in the oven frozen the night before at about 250 and then crank it up to 325 a few hours before I need it done. Leave it out of the overn 1/2 hr before carving.

  • I cook it during the day, as early in the day as necessary. I convection cook it at 350-375 degrees. I thaw a frozen turkey in the fridge for several days prior. I also brine my turkey to keep it moist.

  • Defrost in the refrigerator.
Cook in the day at 325
But I really like it deep fried. My son does that for me.

  • I don't have an oven that works, so I went and bought a large electric roasting pan that will hold up to an 18 pound turkey and it turns out GREAT!!!!! Not only can you do a turkey in it, but I do Prime Rib, cakes, quick breads (banana nut bread, etc).....WONDERFUL unit!!! You can buy them at any discount store at a very reasonable price!!

  • Brine it overnight, fill with aromatics only (apples, onions, spices and herbs). Turn it upside down, roast for 1/2 hour at 500, then turn it down to 350 until the meat thermometer reads 161. Pull it out of the oven, cover with foil, and let it rest for about 20 minutes. Never open the door to baste - it doesn't do anything and just makes it take longer to cook. Always comes out perfect.

  • As for the defrosting part - in the fridge for 3 days prior, and if it's still not thawed, in a cold water bath. The brining helps it along if it's not totally thawed yet.

  • I cook mine exactly like NP does.

Answer by Izsarejman at 4:45 PM on Dec. 22, 2010

  • I cook mine in a roaster that is independent of the oven. Like this one.
I cook it at the highest tempt it will go for about 2 hours. Depending on the size of the turkey. It frees up the oven to cook other stuff. I started brining the turkey a day or so earlier.
