  • When a person puts a :) at the end of a message, it sometimes comes up as "J" in plain text.

  • J often means they are joking...not sure what message you saw it in, but that would be my guess. Also, some email programs will automatically create their own smileys but when it gets turned back into standard text you only see a random letter (smileys are part of a font not supported by standard text).

  • the "J" is usually used when someone wants you to know that they are joking but ive never seen anyone just use a "J".....
    this is how ive always known when someone is joking:
    j/k--> just kidding
    jk-ing--> just kidding
    jk--> just kiddin
    jj--> just joking
    jm--> just messing

    people use different abreviations for when they are messing around or joking.....but ive never seen someone just use a single "J" before......
