  • Find another recipe. I don't think I have ever had to put baking powder in sugar cookies.

  • If the recipe calls for it, then yes. The baking powder helps the cookies to puff up properly. Without it, you'd end up with very flat, and most likely hard, cookies.

  • Yes, without it you'll make greasy dough balls.

  • You need baking powder or a substitute for it for sure.

    For each 1 teaspoon baking powder called for in a recipe, use:

    1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar;

    OR

    1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 cup buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt (to replace 1/2 cup liquid called for in recipe).

  • yes you need it. Why can't you leave your kids & hubby home and go grab some by yourself? Why would you have to drag them all along? Leave them home, get a few minutes of alone time, and get the baking powder.
