  • It varies but my two were hungry every two hours to start. Over time it gets longer and longer between feedings. Good luck with the baby!

  • Newborns shouldn't get any bottles. You want to nurse exclusively to establish your supply and breastfeeding relationship and you can begin introducing bottles around 4-6 weeks, if you'd like.

Most newborns I've known eat about every 2 hours. Some will eat constantly (my first) and some will come out on a 3-4 hour schedule (my second). They're all different, there's no way to predict. Just feed at first sign of hunger (typically rooting/bobbing head/looking for breast or chewing on hands) and on demand.

  • Maybe she isn't breastfeeding?

Anyway, in the very beginning, my daughter ate about 2oz every 2 hours. I breastfed for the first 3 months, but I also was pumping and so I knew how much she would take through the bottle feedings. Then around 3-4 months, she went on to 4oz per feeding....then so on and so forth. We didn't introduce solids until almost 8 months, so she relied on milk mostly until about 10 months. Do you intend on breastfeeding or are you going straight to formula? My daughter would generally breastfeed for about 10-15 minutes on each breast about every 2-3 hours.....so that's not exactly a given amount for each child. I also depends on your milk production.

  • My 22 month old was only about 5 lbs when she came home and couldn't even take 2 oz - I think we started with 1/2 - 1 oz every hour and then worked up from there :)

  • Whether you nurse or use formula is totally your choice. Good luck!

  • Bottle feeding is perfectly fine!

You will feed about every 2-3 hours in the beginning and get longer as they get older. Some babies are sleeping through the night by 6 weeks. Good luck
