Does anyone have a good exercise to strengthen knees without equipment.

  • You can't really strengthen a knee joint. Actually, it's the weakest joint in the human body. You can do things to strenghten your Quadriceps that will help relieve knee stress by taking some of the work off of the joint.

  • Sit in a chair, put a can or two of veggies or something in a sock or knee high, and drape it over your foot. Straighten your leg. Start with just a few repetitions, and build up gradually over the days. Do the same thing when standing holding on to the chair, keep your knee pointed straight down, with the "weight" draped over the back of your ankle, bed your knee and raise your foot up toward your back end. next, which is also for the hip, use your "weight" again, lie on the floor on your side, slowly lift the top leg upward, Same thing with bottom leg. Never overdo, take your time and do them slowly. (Disclaimer- don't take my word for it, everyone is different.) Walking is a reasonable exercise that also helps the knee. A physical therapist could give you really good and careful instructions, an exercise specialist also.
