newborn puppy foot is cut.

my mils chi puppy has a cut on it's paw an upper leg part like the elbow. it stinks and the mother is new at this. first litter....is it worth taking to vet? can they treat this? isn't the pup to young for any treatment. we think the mom will continue to lick the wound. it will have a deformed foot. i think it's missing a toe. does not appear to be in any pain and no infection. would antibiotics be to strong for a one day old.what do you think?

  • Definatly take the pup to the vet. Chihuahua's are very small and fragile but certainly little troopers. The sooner this is taken care of the better off the pup will be.

  • if it has an odor, I'd recommend the vet definitely. odor generally indicates infection.
