  • "Blue Christmas Without You"

The first Christmas after my dad passed away, my mom was fine. But the following year, she seemed a little down. I went to visit her and found she had had a banner made, in blue lettering, that said "I'll Have A Blue Christmas Without You". It was displayed across the window in front of the house, and was the only decoration she had up.

I conferenced with my sibs, and we all went over and put up a tree and decorations, and had an early little celebration with her... and got her to take down the banner. But now, whenever I hear that song, I think of how sad my mom must have felt.
