How come my jello never comes out?

I can follow the instructions on the box to the letter and my jello never forms. At the most after 24 hours in the fridge it is the consistency of a slushy. Any hints?

  • Do you use hot or cold water? Using hot water and a little less makes it more firm than if you used cold water. Also, do you put the jello mix immediately into the fridge after the powder has been dissolved? I usually make mine with hot water and then quickly plop it in the fridge.

  • Are you doing the standard or the 'jiggler' prep? I find the jiggler prep works best with molds.
