  • Sambucol. It's elderberry syrup and taking it will shorten the length of time you are sick.

  • Try the Netti pot - it works pretty well.

  • I think some remedies are hot liquids that you can take in like hot soup, hot teas, chicken broth, pain reliever of some kind, and getting under lots of blankets to sweat out the illness.

  • Unfortunately there is no cure for the common cold, but there are lots of things you can do to alleviate the symptoms. :) Hot liquids, plenty of liquids of any kind to loosen secretions, rest. Hope you feel better!

  • I agree wholeheartedly with mom2aspclboy about the Sambucol elderberry syrup and also if you take it every day it will help prevent a bad cold as well---I absolutely swear by it... it can get expensive though... but it really works!

  • Stick your head over the bathroom sink.
Put a towel over over your head, and have it cover the sink.
    Turn on the hot water.
    Let the steam rise up.
Inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth.
It's supposed to help clear your sinuses, along with drinking hot liquids, and taking a hot bath(as hot as you can handle it).

  • Garlic!! Eat lots of it. It has antibiotic and antiviral properties. I actually chop a clove in half (or a bit smaller, depending on the size) and swallow the pieces like pills when I'm feeling sick. Check out this link:
