how can i get my homemade cake to be more moist, softer & fluffyer

my cake is always thick and heavy

  • You might want to try and change the amount of butter you use. Also do you make it from scratch? I found that cookies, brownies, and cakes made from scratch taste a lot better than those from a mix.

  • wow 375...that oven seems hot to me. Most of my recipes call for 350. Another question is are you overbeating your eggs? Over beaten eggs make a batter heavy and coarse.

  • Substitute oil with applesauce i.e. 1 cup applesauce instead of 1-cup oil (or whatever amount it calls for)

  • A tablespoon of mayonnaise does the trick! I use it in my brownies too and they are always a hit!

  • Yes, I was going to say applesauce as well. Also when my baked goods are on my top rack in the oven they don't come out as dry as below.
