  • I've seen (and love) the original with John Wayne - I'm interested in seeing this new version which is supposed to be based on the book and not a strict remake of the John Wayne film...

  • The original or the remake?

The original is an American movie classic.. A must see for anyone who likes a traditional western, and a definite must for any John Wayne fan.

The remake.. Nope haven't seen it. Have no intentions of seeing it.

Some movies should not be remade in my opinion.

  • I love the original... But I'm not sure if I want to risk watching the new one, it could ruin them both for me.

  • The original ... John Wayne is Rooster Cogburn. Aside from McLintock, that is my fav character of his. I cannot see Bridges in that role. He isn't gruff enough.

  • My husband and son saw the new version today and loved it. Technically it is not a remake (as beachmamaof2 said) but just based on the same book. This newer version attempts to stick closer to the book.

My guys say this is well written, well acted and will get Oscar nominations. Had I known that this story is told from the lead female's perspective, I might have gone with them. :-)

  • Oh...I almost forgot:

My son says that if you liked the HBO series "Deadwood", you will like this film. It doesn't have the profanity that Deadwood did, but has similarly eloquent dialog.
