  • it means that the cervix is prone to opening too early, causing a miscarriage or early delivery. usually they can use a cerclage (stitch) to shut it and then you're on restrictions or bedrest.

  • Incompetent cervix is a cervix that dilates early under the weight/pressure of a growing pregnancy. It is a factor in some second trimester miscarriages as well as some preterm deliveries.
