Why would my new kitten wake me every morning at 3:19 a.m. by sitting on my chest and licking my face? .

He has food, his box is clean, and other than the 3 am wakeups, he's the perfect kitten

  • She just cant wait any longer for you to wake up-lol. Seriously though cats do like to be up at night-they are naturally noctural but do adapt to our schedules. It just will take her a little while. When I started an early shift a few years back and had to get up at 3:30AM to get ready for work my cat was quite happy that I had adapted to his schedule. Plus they like to look out the window and the birds and other animals at that time are either starting to wake up or going home after being active all night and this gets their attention. She probably thinks you are missing out on seeing all this-lol.

  • Kittens aren't on a set schedule. I'd say there's no real reason other than wanting to be loved. They sleep all day so they don't know it's 3 am

  • He just hasn't gotten the wake up time down yet. My cat does the same thing, but he's right there between 6 and 6:30. He's even developed a snooze feature, I can push him away and he comes back in 15-30 minutes. LOL

  • She's probably lonely. Wanting someone to play with, someone to snuggle with. Give her a stuffed animal. Something bigger then she is to curl up with.

  • I am amazed at how many people comment like I don't give my animals lots of love. Goodness, thank you for the responses.
