  • Creamed Chipped Beef (S.O.S.)

    3 tablespoons butter
    1/2 cup flour
    1 can (14 1/2 oz.) evaporated milk
    1 1/2 cups water
1 jar (5 oz.) chipped dried beef, cut up into 1" pieces
Melt butter. Blend in flour. Stir in evaporated milk and water. Cook, stirring, until smooth and thickened. Add beef. Serve over toast.
Notes: I often rinse the chipped beef so that it is not so salty. I often use milk if I don't have evaporated milk, and you can also use cooked ground beef instead of chipped beef.

  • mix a few cans of green beans, some peeled and cut potatos, chopped onion and slice some smoked sausage. Add salt and pepper and boil on the stove. add more water if needed. Boil slowly until potatoes are tender. We serve with jiffy corn bread sometimes.

Chili is fairly cheap to make.

    Look at for recipes.

you can make chicken pot pie on stove or in crockpot and serve with biscuits on top. boil a few chicken breasts and shread them up. In a pot add veggies you like (frozen works well we like onion, celery, peas, carrots and corn and 1 can green beans drained) Put veggies (about 1 cup of each) some chicken broth, the chicken and a can of cream of chicken or any cream soup. Cook until veggies are tender. bake biscuits. and serve on top
