  • Yes! And I am one of those over-protective parents! There is no way I would let my dd do the things my parents let me do when I was little. I know I am being totally unrational most of the time, but I cannot help it I have major anxiety. I feel I make my daughter miss out on a lot of fun things because I am scared something will happen to her.

  • Um....have you looked around lately? This world is MUCH different than when we were kids. Hell, it's practically soft core porn right on cable television, many children have no respect anymore. Too many children are left unsupervised. I think some parents don't shelter their children enough.

  • I am over protective but I did get the kids a trampoline with an enclosure and guess what? My daughter still broke her arm. Now it sits there and no one uses it because everyone is too scared to use it and fall out. I think there are things kids can do that are safe. They can play after school sports, volunteer, play dates, movies etc. In this day and age though it is not like we can just drop kids at the mall like when we were young. Or even have them play unattended outside. I think of worst case scenerios because we are all one breath away from them.

  • Oh and since everyone is telling trampoline stories. My brother broke his ankle when he was 16 or 17 because of a trampoline. UGHH...he had what looked like a grapefruit under his skin. It was UGLY. Trampolines scare me, and my daughter will never have one.

  • my daughter is seven years old and has had a trampoline for a year now, she loves it and no one has gotten hurt badly. we supervise her and her friends. they love it and will pay on it for hours at a time.

  • I think parents can be over protective. I am not. I think my dh and I find a very healthy balance between protecting him and letting him have freedom. (:
