Do you regift or is it tacky?

"Is regifting considered tacky? What if there was no absolute way of the new recipient ever learning it was a regift?"

I don't see anything wrong with regifting things like wine and chocolates (that haven't been open, of course). Especially, if it's something that was given to you out of courtesy (like when someone comes over and brings chocolates), and not too much thought has gone into it. If it's a really personal item that I just didn't like, I won't regift it, but (hopefully) return it.

  • It really depends in what the item is. Yes, sometimes I do re-gift.

  • I re gift all the time... I see nothing wrong with doing that...
It's better than letting the item sit in your house collecting dust knowing
that someone else could possibly use it...

  • I regift - this year the main "regift worthy" item I received was an awful cow necklace and earring set - I got it in the dirty santa and guess where it'll end up next year... right back in dirty santa - lol.

  • I have a couple of times. I see nothing wrong with it, if done carefully.
