  • Don't use peroxide. They may 'bleach' the sheets. Use 1 cup of white vinegar right in the washer with regular detergent (this is great for bath towels as well) If possible let the sheets soak in the vinegar for about 30 min. wash and rinse as usual. The sheets may have a slight vinegar smell which will go away, or you can run thru an extra rinse cycle

  • Go with the vinegar as your first attempt; it dissolves the bonds between the mildew and the fabric, and is unlikely to discolor the sheets. If the vinegar doesn't do it completely, then try the oxyclean.

  • Peroxide will bleach - never use peroxide on something that's not white.

  • you don't. You can kill the mold, but you won't remove the stain.

  • Pure peroxide will bleach them, you'd really have to dilute it. I'd try super concentrated oxyclean. Maybe even make a paste with it & let it sit on the moldy part for a bit before you put it in the wash. If that doesn't work, i would try an extremely diluted wash in bleach. The color will fade a bit, but the mold will certainly be gone.
