  • Been there. I could not. I called the local high school and spoke w/ the guidance counselor and also the principal. They were kind enough to hook me up w/ an honor student who I hired as a Mothers Helper for only a few bucks an hour (plus all the mountain dew she could drink!) My hubby left for work around 8:40am and we kept occupied w/ tv, movies, computer games, books, etc til 1:45 when she got off school and stayed for 4 hours and did all the hardcore stuff like getting the wiggles out and helping fold clothes and so on. I did some ebay-ing and hubby worked 3 hours overtime a week to make up the difference.

  • Read him books, let him watch videos. Crayons and coloring books. Puzzles. Whatever he's interested in, get new little toys to give him one when he's been very good, say every few days. Like a baloon, or a matchbox car.
