  • If you are a GREAT snowboarder and do it all the time, It is probably okay to go for a while, but NEVER take up a sport like SnowBoarding during a pregnancy.
As always Check with your care provider before you do it. :)

    Congratulations!

  • From: http://www.medicineonline.com/articles/p/2/Pregnancy-and-Sports.html

Avoid sports that have a strong risk of falling. Some sports are hazardous during pregnancy because of the risks of falling. The amniotic fluid cushions the baby well, but the force of an impact may cause the placenta to separate from the uterus. This very serious condition, known as placenta abruptio, could cause the death of the baby or a dangerous loss of blood from the mother. Pregnancy is no time to take up mountain climbing or skydiving. A woman should also avoid horseback riding, water-skiing and surfing, and bike riding on a wet pavement or windy path.

Personally I wouldn't do it esp if I was in the 2nd or 3rd trimester.

  • I think back on my DH's one experience with snowboarding, and he said every time he fell it was like being body slammed into the ground.

Sounds like too much of a risk, unless you are really good at it and go easy.

  • Also I had placenta abruptio for another reason but my baby girl almost died. Her bp went below 60 per min ans all that time she was receiving Zero oxygen. I was already in the hospital when it happened as well.
