  • I guess living with a momma who's southern, our traditional New year's dishes are different. We always had black eyed peas and cabbage for luck. And as a matter of fact, I've got a big pot of black eyed peas with onion and bacon cooking now. I'll cook the cabbage later. We'll be serving them as side dishes with cottage pie tonight, and probably having them as left overs for lunch tomorrow.

  • growing up, we had pork and sourkraut (sp?) every year

when I got together with hubby-he let me know we would be having steak and lobster like his family always did growing up!
So that is what we do every year now

  • Our traditional New Years dinner is prime rib, roasted new potatos, ceasar salad and LOTS of drinks for all!

  • DH is Japanese, and the first thing you have to eat in the New Year is long noodles, so we do that. We make up some ramen or spaghetti or udon. New Year's is a HUGE deal in Asia, even more so than Christmas.
