What's a good exercise for triceps that won't hurt my shoulder?

  • Sit or stand up or tilt forward. Keep the elbow pointed down toward the hip, palm backward. Slowly straighten your arm. You should be able to feel the triceps working, but there is no shoulder involvement other than stability. And you can even hold on to the arm with your other hand. You can hold a small weight. (Do at your own risk :) ) (Note: I thought I'd better put the usual disclaimer there.)

  • Upon re-reading my answer, I think it might help to mention that you bend your arm- bringing the back of the hand upward, and then straighten the arm, pushing the hand downward and back.
