Why do people vote down answers simply because they disagree with them, even if they're not mean spirited or wrong?

I only vote someone down if they're being very mean or rude, or if the info they're giving is wrong (as in dangerous).

  • lol. I don't know but I have found myself becoming more and more defensive when I answer in a manner I know is against the popular vote. It think it's kind of silly but I still get bothered by getting my answer voted down. Just means I am a good sensitive person right! ;0) I'll keep telling myself that anyway.

  • Heaven forbid people be accepting of different view points... I mean surely as adults we can read another point of view without getting petty. 'your wrong and I'm right nah nah nah nah nah.' 'My way or the Highway!'

    Grow up mamas.

  • I don't care if I get voted down for simple answers. I been voted down for saying I like Coke over pepsi or Target over walmart. Just because I get voted down doesn't mean my answer is going to change.
I only vote down when the comment was nasty, other then that if its my question I still vote people up even if I don't agree with them since we are all entitled to our own opinions

  • I vote down answersw that I dont agree with like "yah its fine to give your 5 month old orange juice". I vote down answers where the person clearly didnt read the question. I vote down answers that are rude and offensiv

  • Where in the rules does it say you can only vote down for rude comments?

I vote down comments/answers when they disagree with my point of view because obviously I think MY point of view/answer is the correct one- hence the reason I bother to answer the questions in the first place. I see nothing wrong with it either...

  • Because they can. CM insisted it wouldn't happen when they put the feature in - they were wrong. It's the lazy way to anonymously troll someone instead of explaining why you disagree.
