how can i make my 18 month old son stop biting?

he will get angry and just bite you, sometimes he brings blood..and i'm sick of it. i need advice

  • Keep telling him to stop biting. Give him a time out every time he does bite. Get down to his eye level and say "No bite, Owwie"

  • when he gets to the point of anger, just get up and walk away...don't give him the chance. If he searches you out to purposely bite you, you need to figure out what's making him angry...if it's strictly just a tantrum, then one minute in a high chair or time out chair might not be a bad idea. At that age, they are well aware of what they are doing. My daughter went through that around that age, and she quickly learned that getting put down and a firm "no" was all she needed to quit that crap.

  • bite him back-he needs to learn that it hurts to get bit. Obviously, don't bite hard enough to draw blood or anything. just hard enough to let him know it hurts. That's what we did. Works very well.
