Checking temp

Okay I am having a moment here. I forgot how to check a 1 month old temp. Is it anal, armpits or ear?

I would go with rectal, it's the most reliable.

  • if you do armpit just add a degree. Or when you call it in if you think there is a fever let them know you did under the arm.

  • Rectal would be the most accurate.

  • I would use the what the dr uses. Forehead. You can buy them at walmart.

  • I bought a cheap forehead thermometer and it NEVER gives me the same reading more than once (even giving the instructed time in between readings). So don't trust that. I think armpit is fine, rectal most reliable. But with a baby only 1mo old, if you think there is a fever above 100, seek medical help!
