  • What grneyedgrandma said. My mom is like this and I just limit all conversation and she knows nothing about my personal life because every time I try to be cool with her she does nothing but judge and critisize. Just keep your distance. Don't let them get to you.

  • Your own or someone elses? Your own..Refuse to allow someone to tell you how to live your life. If they don't stop seriously limit all contact. Someone a MIL....ugh much harder. You can only encourage someone to stand up on their own. You can't make them limit contact if they don't want to. Sometimes people have been controlled for so long they have little self esteem or confidence in making their own decisons. That is exactly what the controller wants.
