At what age do you think it is okay to take a child to see a movie in the theater

  • Depends a lot on the movie. There are very, very few movies that are appropriate for children under the age of 5 --most have contention, violence, loss or frightening imagery (especially Disney movies) and nothing that can hold their attention for the kind of time most movies run.

    We took our kids to a few movies when they were really young... but mostly it was a waste of money.

  • Mine were around 3 when I took them to the theater. I gauge how they act through a movie at home.

  • when they can actually sit through one and be relatively quiet...

    I didn't take mine until around 5 or 6 I think and then it was pretty rare

  • i did when she was 1 she slept threw it and i will try when she is 2 (which is in april)
