  • My 5mo spends his whole day on the floor. He is happy there playing with his toys. I can't imagine holding him all day or limiting his floor time. How would he learn to crawl? Or use his hands? Or get into the DVDs? Unless he's fussing/crying he's on the floor and that's how it's been since he was born (same with my 4 older kids). He's almost crawling now. Even as I type this he is happily playing behind me with his little keys.

  • As long as your watching and keeping on eye on your little one, I would let him/her enjoy themself. My girls hated tummy time so your a lucky mama :)

  • whatever they are comfy with...our pedi told us not to force it...if she can roll over on her own, then she's probably safe....if not just let her be and keep an eye on her :)

  • I let my son stay down there till he starts to cry sometimes 10 min sometimes 2 hrs all depends on his mood no time is too long

  • I don't know that there's a specific time limit for how long is too long. I would say take him off of his tummy if he starts to fall asleep. Otherwise tummy time is great, the more the better.

  • You are lucky that your baby enjoys tummy time. My DS is 3mths old and hates it. He grunts and carries on like I'm torturing him. I would let your baby stay as long as they want. My dr says that it helps strenghten thier back muscles. So I guess the more the better:)

  • They say you aren't supposed to leave a baby in any one position for more than 20 minutes.

    That's what they *say*, anyway.

@carolinagirl075, have you tried letting him lay on your stomach and look at your face? Some babies don't like being on the floor, but they love laying on Mom or Dad and looking at them. And it counts as tummy time because he's not flat on his back.
