baby name

I am having a conflict with the father of our unborn baby...he wants it named after him but I feel his first son with his ex should have gotten his name. I refuse more or less to name it after him if it turns out to be a boy. I love him but he should have had that argument with his ex! Im not sure on any names at this point since we are only 3 months pregnant. help please!

  • Maybe he would be open to compromise. Same initials or same middle name? I wanted a Jr. and DH did not so we compromised with them having the same initials.

  • Is he a part of your life? Are you still together? I would name my son after him if he wanted. You could use a nickname for him.

  • I definitely get your point. It would be weird for his second son to be a Jr. and not his first. What if the first son grows up and wonders why he wasn't a Jr. but his little brother is? I would see if he would compromise for the same initials or something. Thankfully my husband doesn't want to name our son, if we ever have one, after him and I don't either. I don't like Jr. names or anything like that. Good luck.

  • I also don't like naming a child after their father...I wouldn't name my child after me either really...I have used my middle name as my first daughter's middle name, but that's it....My ex-hubby was named after his father and when it came time for a mortgage, he had to jump through hoops to prove he wasn't one and the same person...his dad had debt trouble.....and I REALLY hate when some poor kid is called Junior....it doesn't allow them to have their own identity....I wish you the best of luck in your battle !

  • I can see maybe using his middle name for your sons middle name or doing the same initial thing but i cant stand juniors. I would never name my child after DH or myself but i do like using the grandparents names etc...

  • Yeah I would use his name as the middle name. I think if you're gonna do the jr thing, which I am not a fan of anyways, you should with the first born son.

  • I don't like naming boys after their father's. A child needs his own identity.
