Ants in the winter?

I always get ants in the winter, it drives me crazy. All summer no ants, but all winter long, if we drop anything anywhere, it is an ant infestation for a little while. Does anyone else have this problem? what do you do.

I live in Indiana, so it is very cold now.

  • Go buy cinnamon sticks. Tie them in lil bundles of 4 or 5 and lay them around your kitchen.
Ants dont like them and is safer than poison. You can also put them in your cabinets.

  • We had them when we first moved here (also IN). Friend's exterminator husband told us to use bait traps and gel, and NOT to kill any when we saw them - let them take the bait back to the colony. We used the gel in the bathroom where DS couldn't reach it, and the traps near the kitchen. Generally they're going for the water sources. Never had issues with them again.
