  • The Crockpot Moms group here on CM is wonderful, so I'd suggest there. There are so many things you can make in a crockpot :)

  • Love this site, but I think some of the recipes were taken down after she got the cookbook deal: A Year of Slow Cooking

  • My favorite is a roast with onion gravy. The recipe called for brisket, but I found that didn't get tender enough.

5 lbs beef roast, trimmed of fat
    4 cups onions, thinly sliced
    4 cloves garlic
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
    1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
    2 c. beef broth
    3 tbsp flour
2-3 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
    2 tbsp butter

Sear the roast with oil in a hot pan and place in crockpot. In same pan, add onions and garlic, stirring constantly until onions are caramelized (golden brown and tender). Add beef broth and tomato sauce. Pour mixture over roast and cook 8-10 hours on low until meat is tender and breaks up with a fork.

Remove meat and set aside. Melt better in a hot pan. Add flour and stir until smooth, cooking to a golden brown color. Add sauce from crockpot, bringing to a boil for 1 min, then lower to a simmer until sauce becomes a gravy.

Serve meat and gravy over mashed potatoes.
