What's wrong with marriage?

I keep reading where women don't want to get married, it's just a piece of paper, blah, blah, blah. I think it's wonderful. Plus I get benefits, like health, when otherwise I wouldn't. Am I old fashioned to think that marriage is important?

  • Its just a piece of paper to me, but the vows that we exchanged holds more power than anything in my opinion.

  • I love my husband and feel our marriage is the perfect way to show our love and eternal commitment to each other. I couldn't imagine going my whole life knowing he is only my boyfriend.

  • Everyone has different views. Marriage is important to me. We've been married 13 years now and I can't imagine life any other way. Not everyone feels the same way I do though.

  • I think it's just a piece of paper but we got married for the benefits. No piece of paper will tell me how committed I am

  • I think that it's the difference between what God (or whomever you believe in) says and what the government recognizes.

Marriage is not a piece of paper but that is what the government says you need to have to be legally married. In the eyes of God, that paper is not needed.

The benefits you get from being married have to do with what the government says, not what religion says.

  • Almost every time I log onto cafemom, at least one married woman is comlaining about the following:

    1. Husband beating on them
    2. Husband cheating on them
    3. Husband asking them to have threesomes
    4. Husbands asking for open marriages
    5. Wives are bored
    6. Wives questioning whether or not to leave their husbands

So what's so RIGHT about marriage?
