Does anybody know where I can find size 12 month or 18 month training underwear?

My soon to be 2yr old has started potty training and is ready for big boy underwear, but due to some heath issues, he is very small. Pull ups fall right off. Any idea where I might find 12 month or 18 month underwear (preferably 12 month). Otherwise I am going to have to find someone to sew some, which could get expensive - labor wise.

  • I would buy the Gerber ones and sew up the sides about an inch on each side. They should be the right size after that. My kids are all skinny, so we had to sew undies too.

  • I would use some soft cotton shorts and call them baby boxers :)

  • I think K-mart sells them that small. They usually have a pretty good selection on the training ones. The gerber brand goes pretty small and usually runs small as well and if you can't find them at K-Mart I know that amazon.com has them. Free 2 day shipping if you sign up for AmazonMoms. :)

  • I've seen some 18 months Gerber ones in the baby aisle at Target, and at Babies 'R' Us. They might have 12 month, not sure. They're the thicker cotton kind, come in a 2- or 3-pack.

  • I could not. My son was a preemie and had, maybe, an 17.5 inch waist when we started. Both grandmothers and I looked all over, but it ended up that my MIL purchased 2T (smallest to find, ~20" waist) and took in bits on the waist and legs(so he wouldn't fall out there, either(-:). The seams are kind of thick, so I put them on my son inside-out so they don't put too much pressure.

I periodically peruse the underpants aisle and most makers have 20.5" as their smallest size (even in girls), but Hanes had a pair of solid underpants(not the thicker, training ones) with an 18" waist and they didn't fall off.

    Good luck!

  • Gerber always runs small - I've always had to buy a size larger than it actually calls for on the package, so you might try!

  • I looked at the gerber. Their 18 month size says its for 24-28lbs. Ike only weighs 19lbs. :(
