I'm a first-time mom - is there something wrong?

My baby is 17 days old. She sleeps through the night (11pm to 9am). I mean ALL NIGHT. No feeds during the night. She is normal weight- height and likes to eat, but she never wakes up to be fed.
Should I be waking her up to feed her during the night?
Could there be something wrong?

Thanks!

  • Forgot to mention she also naps twice a day for 1-2 hours.

  • My son was sleeping all night at 4 weeks. Dr told me as long as he was eating during the day and voiding regularly don't wake him up. Congrats on the new baby :)

  • I would be happy. Don't worry, she will let you know when she is hungry.

  • I dont think so I think maybe ya got lucky! She is not jaundiced is she my youngest was and was a great sleeper until we got that cleared up then he woke 1-2 times a night. I would just make sure you feed right before she goes down and right when she wakes...if she is on formula they tend to sleep through the night faster I think because it is heavier in their tummy

  • No, it's breastmilk. Dr said she's gaining weight so she's ok, but I needed more opinions!! Thanks!

  • that is very lucky. she might change her sleeping pattern when she goes through a growth spurt. just enjoy it now. i think its also its very rare for a breastfed baby to sleep through the night so young. congrats and enjoy your sleep.

  • First off, CONGRATS on your new bundle of joy. Second, you're one lucky momma lol! My daughter was sleeping through the entire night at 2months, which i'm pretty lucky for as well. I would NOT wake your baby up to feed at night, trust me,....she WILL let you know when she's hungry, babies are bossy =P There is absolutely nothing wrong with a normal healthy baby not waking up in middle of the night 2 feed, she just likes her beauty sleep =) i'm no doctor though, so if you're concerned, talk to her pediatrician, won't hurt to call in and ask a few questions.
